Conservative Businessman Gary Gates Announces Run for Texas House
​
Businessman Gary Gates today announced his candidacy for State Representative in Texas House District 28. HD 28 covers the northern portion of Fort Bend County including Fulshear, Orchard, Simonton, Weston Lakes, and parts of Katy.
“I’m excited for the chance to fight for our freedoms and conservative values,” Gates said. “Rep. Zerwas served us well, but there’s still much to be done to protect taxpayers, secure the border, create jobs, protect the 2nd Amendment, defend life, and strengthen our schools.”
Gary Gates’s father was a talented American Air Force pilot who was being transferred to the USA Space Shuttle program when he was tragically murdered, leaving Gates, at just age 18, to support the family. Gates first drove a truck but soon found success in buying, renovating, and renting homes. He has since built his business to 500 employees.
“I’ve been blessed in my business, with my family, and in my life,” Gates said. “The success I have should be available to everyone. I’m on a mission to galvanize our American and Texas freedoms for us, for our children, and for future generations.”
The seat is being vacated by State Representative John Zerwas, who is resigning to assume headship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. The special election will be held on November 5, 2019.
Gary and his wife, Melissa, have lived in the district for over thirty years. They attend Grace Community Bible Church with their children.
